  1. Operating Procedures

EOD Standard Operation Guidelines

In Arma 3 EOD is simple. Find the IED or bomb. Don't die. That being said we’ve all seen someone step on or drive over a mine or IED.

As the Explosive Ordnance Disposal expert your job is to identify potential explosive threats and deal with them properly.

Required Equipment

Your kit should be set up as follows:

  • Detonator

  • Defusal kit

  • Mine detector

  • Wire Cutters (can be left out depending on mission)

  • 4x det blocks (can be less or more depending on mission)

  • 2x Orange smoke

  • BLUE and RED Marker flags

Controlled Det

When disposing of enemy ordinance you need to keep certain things in mind, size of the ordinance, surrounding civilian buildings and vehicle, will a civilian walk into the blast zone while conducting controlled det.

While controlled det is my preferred method of defusal it is not feasible all the time, you must take everything above into account and more. Will friendlies be in the area when you det, will air be overhead when you det?

If you have managed all of those and are able to control det you must do a few things first. Do not over set your charges, most boxes, mines, IED’s only need 1 det block. There will be times when you need to place more than one down, you are smart, use your brain. Once you have det set you or whoever is leading said mission must call controlled det at the grid cords over task force net. Ex β€œAlcon this net, Alcon this next be advised controlled det at grid ref 123-456 30 seconds” at this point throw red smoke on the area of controlled det and wait the allotted time you called out. Usually 10-30 seconds. Before you blow up said ordinance call out Controlled det multiple times before you det.

Defusal

If you can't Det in place you must defuse said ordinance. This is simple, make sure you are slotted at the EOD/Engineer slot, and have a Defusal kit on you. If you are not in the EOD/Engineer slot the server is programmed to give you a significantly lower chance of successful defusal.

Once you defuse the ordinance you will take said ordinance back with you and either keep it in your inventory or place it in the vehicle. Do not reset the ordinance or it will blow up. S3 is sadistic and has the server set to detonate any enemy ordinance that has been defused if you try to use it. You will die. We will laugh.

Mines

When we come across minefields. If it is not viable to det or defuse all of the mines you must clear a path big enough for vehicles if possible. Once you have done this you must mark said path with BLUE and RED marker flags. Blue flags indicate a cleared path, place those down on both sides of the path you have cleared for the duration of the path. Red flags are used to mark mines, place a single flag beside the mine and continue through the minefield.
